oh this bits very important
lets go to work
I appear to have contracted a computer virus, a worm, sometime in the last month (when my antivirus ran out) Please do check your pc for this, it a maddweningly infuriating one. FUNNY SCANDAL UST AVI self-replicates almost 5 seconds after deletion, and transfers between usb sticks very easily kicking itself in the autorun.inf - I loaded up a university page on antiviruses and it shut the browser down every time I loaded it.
Its a particularly nasty bug.
To deal with this thing,

(In Safe Mode preferrably, which I had trouble accessing, so didn't bother)
I got a copy of Autobit BD remover, an Indian antivirus agent .from http://rapidshare.com/files/82472644/autoit.bd_worm_remover.zip.html
Initially I were quite worried, because for a virus remover it looks quite comedic, and not that different from the Funny UST virus icon

  • Open Registry Editor (Start>Run>regedit)
  • Delete the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ Microsoft\WindowNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon=shell(killer.exe
  • Delete the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\

If this appears on yours I'd seriously recommend sorting it out sooner rather than later.

Both Avast! and AVG offer free anti-virus downloads. I've been using the former for about three years, and it's caught every attack upon my system.

Good advices.
I use Sophos, comes with University membership,
You really can't stay away from visually thematic userpic employment ?
